Raigad is a very beautiful place. It is a district in Maharashtra.It is Formely known as Kolaba district, the district was renamed Raigad, after the fort that was thefirst capital of the former Maratha Empire, which in turn was returned from it's earlier name-Rairi. I went there in June 2018. That time, The weather was rainy and cloudy. Unfortunately, It was very cold. Whole Raigad is situated in Western Ghats. There are many places situated in it like Matheran, Mahad, Lonavala, and etc. There are many forts. These forts are of Chatrapatti Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Maratha Empire. Some of the famous forts are Raigad Fort, Pratapgad Fort, and etc. Many information is available about Shivaji Maharaj and his Followers. Raigad is situated on hills and mountains. It is covered with a green blanket of trees and bushes. It is having a dense forest also. Many waterfalls are here in it. Some rivers also flows in Raigad. Famous Raigad Pandava Caves are situated in Mahad , Raigad. We should visit Raigad in monsoon season. At that time, many waterfalls are there, cold weather, etc. There is a most famous shop of vada pav in mahad. A shiva's Jyotirling is situated in Raigad. Bhimashankar is the name of the Jyotirling. we should visit raigad once. We should breathe and visit the tourist places at Raigad. Next post I will tell about the Bhimashankar, the town of shiva.
